இந்தியா பெர்முடா அணிகளுக்கு இடையே அதி முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த போட்டி டிரினாடாடில் இன்று (March 19 2007)நடக்கிறது. இந்தியாவின் தலையெழுத்தை நிர்ணயிக்கக் கூடிய போட்டிகளில் இதுவும் ஒன்றாக கருதப்படுகிறது.
போட்டி துவங்கும் முன் பாகிஸ்தான் அணி பயிற்சியாளர் பாப் உல்மர் மறைவுக்கு இரு அணி வீரர்களும் ஒரு நிமிடம் மவுன அஞ்சலி செலுத்தினர்.
பெர்முடா டாஸ் வென்று முதலில் பீல்டிங் செய்ய முடிவெடுத்தது. துவக்க ஆட்டக்காரர்களாக உத்தப்பாவும், கங்குலியும் களமிறங்கினர். உத்தப்பா இரணடாவது ஓவரின் முதல் பந்தை ஜோன்ஸ் வீச பந்து ஆஃபில் வந்தது. அதை உத்தப்பா ஸ்லிப்பில் அடிக்க, அங்கு நின்றிருந்த லெவர்லாக் அருமையாக கேட்ச் பிடித்து அவுட் ஆக்கினார்.
பிறகு கங்குலியுடன் ஜோடி சேர்ந்த சேவாக் நீண்ட இடைவெளிக்குப் பிறகு இன்று சிறப்பாக விளையாடி சதத்தை நிறைவு செய்தார். கடந்த சில போட்டிகளில் சோபிக்காத சேவாக், மூத்த வீரர்கள் மற்றும், ரசிகர்களின் பல்வேறு விமர்சனங்களை எதிர் கொண்டார். அந்த விமர்சனங்களுக்கு முற்றுப்புள்ளி வைக்கும் விதமாக பெர்முடாவுக்கு எதிராக சேவாக் இன்று செயல்பட்டார்.
சேவாக் 114 ஓட்டங்களை எடுத்து அவுட் ஆனார்.
கங்குலி சிறப்பாக விளையாடி தன் பங்கிற்கு 89 ஓட்டங்களை எடுத்தார்.

Life is so very ironical. The pitch in the first match against Bangladesh was supposed to be a batsman's paradise and both teams struggled and early this morning the pitch was read as difficult for batting and here we are. The highest total ever in World Cups, the highest total by India in ODIs and of course the record of the most sixes in an innings equalled. Uthappa will be kicking himself for having missed out on this run fest as every other Indian batsman enjoyed it like anything. It started with Virender Sehwag. His innings today didn't give us an impression that he was out of form at all. Then Ganguly followed his footsteps and upped the tempo. Dhoni too came up with a quickish cameo. But the mayhem started when Yuvraj was joined by the great Sachin Tendulkar. He first picked up singles and gave Yuvraj the strike who hit the balls as clean as a whistle and then Sachin Tendulkar joined the party big time. Even Rahul Dravid didn't miss out as he ended the innings with the record equalling six. Now the only point of interest in this match is, what will be the margin of victory for India??? We'll find out 40 minutes from now...

ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely. Though shewag has scored a century today, it has a some drawbacks. Since he has hit it against Bermuda, we cannot come to a conclusion that he is back in form. The drawback being, because of this, he will be playing against Srilanka too, and if he gets out cheaply again, it will put more pressure on India. Now Dravid and Chappel will be in a dilema.

So we have to wait until the end of srilanka-bangladesh match to find out what india has to do exactly on friday.
But still we need to defeat bermuda by atleat 250 runs to be competetive !!
