ச: பாலியல் தொழிலாளிகளின் வங்கி ரூ. 9கோடி வியாபாரம்

உஷா மல்டி பர்ப்பஸ் கோஆப்பரேட்டிவ் சொசைட்டி(UMCS) எனும் நிதி நிறுவனம் பாலியல் தொழிலாளர்களால் நிறுவப்பட்டது. மேற்கு வங்கத்தில் அது ரூ.9 கோடிக்கு வியாபாரம் செய்து 8500 வாடிக்கையாளர்களைக் கொண்டு புதிய இலக்கை எட்டியுள்ளது.

1995ல் ஒரு தன்னார்வத் தொண்டு நிறுவனத்தால் துவக்கப்பட்ட இந்த வங்கி நிதி சேவைகளை பாலியல் தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு, குறிப்பாக கொல்கொத்தாவின் சோனாக்காச்சி பகுதியுலுள்ளவர்களுக்கு எடுத்துச் சென்றுள்ளது.

பாலியல் தொழிலாளர்களிடமிருந்து மொத்தம் கிட்டத்தட்ட ரூ.50,000 தினசரி சேமிப்பில் வைக்கப்படுகிறது எனும் தகவலையும் இந்த வங்கி தந்துள்ளது.

"இன்னும் அதிக கிளைகளை சிவப்பு விளக்கு பகுதியில் ஏற்படுத்தவுள்ளோம்" என வங்கியின் பிரசிடெண்ட்டும் பாலியல் தொழிலாளருமான அமித்தா தாஸ் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

"While conducting a survey at Sonagachhi, it was found that economic insecurity forced sex workers to entertain clients who refused to use protection. Most of the sex workers did not have a savings plan and were often harassed by goons," the NGO Mahasweta, spokesperson said.
Gauri Das, president of the Samity, said, "Initially, it was very difficult to attract customers. But now things have changed. The sex workers open account and take loan for their children."
The bank has sanctioned loans upto Rs 15 lakh, mostly to sex workers, who wanted to start businesses and to fund their children's education.
